Can I ever eat dessert if I am trying to eat healthily?

There is room for any food in your diet.  It is a matter of balance, and not over indulging.  Eating a dessert or junk item every once in awhile is no crime.  As long as you trade out something else, like a snack or something, you can substitute the calories without adding extra.

I’m trying to lose weight, should I go on one of those popular diets that every one is talking about?

NO. While being careful about what you eat is a good idea, fad dieting is taking it to the extreme. Sure, they give you immediate results, but in the long run, you gain all that weight back, and maybe even more). Fad Diets are a quick fix with no long term benefits. Emphasize health above all – if you are eating a balanced diet, and not overeating, combined with regular exercise, you will gradually lose weight, and be healthy.

What do I do if I or someone I know is raped?

What can I do to minimize my risk of being attacked?

Always carry a cell phone with you;  plan ahead by leaving lights on at home if you know you will be coming home late, by yourself; communicate your plans with your neighbors, family, roommates – whoever will notice if you don’t return when you’re supposed to.  Always be prepared, and have a plan in your mind of what you would do – how you would respond if someone questionable approached you.

How can I prepare for pregnancy?

With overall healthy living – avoiding things that are bad for you like drugs and alcohol, and making an effort to do the things that are good for you -like eating well, and exercising regularly. Also, taking a prenatal vitamin will help to build up stores of folic acid and other nutrients  for when you become pregnant.

Why is running such a good exercise to do?

Running is free, and you can do it anywhere.  By pacing yourself appropriately, you can get the perfect workout that you need.  You don’t have to do anything more than you feel comfortable doing.  Plus, running (and exercise in general) is a great outlet for stress, and helps regulate your mood.

What should I do if I think I am depressed?
Take some initial measures to make sure you are living healthily – are you eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep?  Start with focusing on those, but also talk to a professional who can give you specific advice for your situation.

I always notice that I feel grumpy and just all around gross a couple weeks before my period, is that normal?
Yes.  Normal PMS symptoms start 1-2 weeks before starting your period.  However, if you feel that your mood and overall feeling during that time is interfering with your quality of life, you should see your doctor, and ask about possible PMDD.
